Any outgoing and incoming mail must not violate any State or Federal Law or the security of the Oldham County Detention Center. Offenders will not be allowed to correspond with any offender in another secure facility. (Ex. Jails, prisons, Court ordered programs). No third-party mail will be accepted. Incoming mail, other than legal mail, may be opened and inspected for contraband prior to delivery. Any contraband will be confiscated for possible prosecution or will be discarded. Offenders will not be allowed to receive stamps, stamped envelopes, magazines, advertisements, newspapers or newspaper clippings through the mail. Offenders will not be allowed to receive copies made off the internet or copies from a copy machine or any laminated item. No Polaroid pictures will be accepted. Pictures with nudity and/or sexually suggestive pictures or poses will not be accepted. These pictures will be deemed contraband and they will be confiscated and destroyed, or any pictures that are deemed inappropriate by jail staff, pictures larger than 5 X 7 will not be permitted. Any mail saturated with perfume or any other substance will be returned to sender. No musical cards will be accepted. All mail will be delivered within 24 hours of receipt. Any mail received after an offender's release will be returned to sender.
Books can be purchased by ordering them through the kiosk once a week. Offenders must have the full amount on their account to place an order. Offenders may have up to 5 paperback/soft back books (excluding your bible) in your possession at any given time. Any excess books can be mailed home at the offender's expense or can be donated to the jail library. |
